The number of families in Escambia County who have unmet needs as a result of Hurricane Ivan continues to swell.
Escambia County's Long Term Recovery (LTR) committee, organized through the Coalition for a Healthier Escambia County, now seeks to arm volunteers with the training they'll need for case management.
The committee is seeking as many volunteers as possible to participate in a training meeting this week, and agree to spend time each week helping those with unmet needs cut through the red tape of paperwork, answer phones, help manage an inventory or repair supplies, and many other tasks.
The meeting is planned for 10 a.m. this Wed., Jan. 5, 2005, at First United Methodist Church of Flomaton. The meeting is planned for the central part of the county, and volunteers will be assigned to tasks in all areas.
Remember that we have a long, long way to go before we reach our "new normal," and reach out to help our neighbors if you can.
