The East Brewton City Council heard complaints about street lights and junky yards in its regular meeting Monday.
Alma Dailey requested a street light to be placed on Dailey Street. The council told her that it could be done and she complimented police officer Steven Bradley on a job well-done.
Resident Myra Pugh was in attendance and asked the council if there was anything it could do about getting rid of junk in a neighbor's yard. The council told her that it would have to be declared a health hazard by the health department before any steps could be taken. Mayor Terry Clark said that the city's hands were tied unless the health department stepped in. He promised to call them in her behalf.
