Escambia County was represented by two carloads of county officials, three bands and a float in Gov. James E. Folsom's Inauguration Parade in Montgomery. Officials participating included Probate Judge Reo Kirkland, Board of Revenue member L.W. Martin, Tax Assessor W.H. Horton and Tax Collector Brooks White, as well as Mayor D.D. Arrington of Flomaton, Mayor H.H. Dees of Atmore, and Mayor L.L. "Bill" Thompson of East Brewton.
The local chapter of the Red Cross has a 1955 contributions goal of $4,555. Murray Haigler, manager of Southern Loan Co., will be general chairman of the drive. He will be assisted by Amos Hargett, John R. Miller Jr., Howard J. Kearley, Mrs. O.T. Vinson, Lifus Johnson and Charlie Harris.

A number of promotions were announced this week by the local National Guard unit. Those receiving promotions included Ralph K. Burnham, Martin L. Kirkus, Frederick V. Andrews, Raymond Browder, Bobby R. Brantley, George R. Chancery, Bobby R. Franklin, Henry R. Minchew, James T. Pruett and Robert D. Young.
A stick-up man robbed a local service station of $110 at gunpoint about 4 a.m. Monday morning.
