Dr. William C. Robbins Sr., 92, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 in a nursing facility in Brewton after a brief illness. He was a native and long-time resident of Texas before moving to Evergreen in 1999. He was a was a former pastor and minister of education and served on church staffs across Texas. He was a member of the faculty and coaching staff at Huron College in Huron, S.D. and served as director of counseling and dean of the School of Social Sciences at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. Following his retirement, he served in various locations with the Home Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He also served as dean of Yellowstone Bible College and as president of Yellowstone Baptist College in Billings, Mont. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth H. Robbins and a daughter, Alice R. Goodall.
He is survived by a son, Dr. William C. (Judy) Robbins Jr. of Evergreen; a daughter, Carolyn R. (David) Rutledge of Clarkston, Ga.; one sister, Bobbie Reese of Hattisburg, Miss.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas with Dallas Huston officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton in charge of local arrangements.
