People in the community have plenty of opinions about potential recreational businesses in Brewton and East Brewton. The question of what we need and what would be supported by the community brought forth some common answers along with a few new ones.
Officer Jeff McGraw, with the Brewton Police Department, said that he would love to see a batting cage along with a putting green and maybe a tennis court.
"We need to give folks somewhere to go to have fun," he said. "It could be something like Jefferson Davis has but smaller."
Pat Farrish would like to see a movie theater, bowling alley or skating rink in town.
"We need something for, not only the youth, but the adults to have a good time together," she said. "I would love to go to a local movie. It's too much to have to go out of town after a hard day at work."
Doris Morris thinks that a skating rink would be a good thing to have in town.
"We used to have one and the whole family could have fun," she said. "I would like to see a theater, too, so we wouldn't have to go out of town every time we see a movie."
Orlando Clack would like to see a theater, bowling alley or maybe an arcade.
"If we had somewhere to go here, I wouldn't have to go out of town," he said.
"We have to go out of town for everything," Ryan Howard said. "We need some of the same things we used to have like a theater, a bowling alley and a skating rink. I would stay in town for any of those."
Carol Fountain said that she would love to see a recreational mall come to town.
"It would be good to see a recreational mall with several things to do," she said. "It would be a good place for church groups, school groups to go. It would also be a good place to have parties.
