With most of its starting skill position players back, there figured to be plenty of points put up on the scoreboard at Friday's T.R. Miller Red/White Game.
Most of those players resided on the White team that rolled to a 32-12 victory.
While there were plenty of big plays, the game also had its share of mistakes. The teams combined for eight turnovers, five of them coming on interceptions.
White got all the production it needed in the first quarter when it roared out to a 16-0 lead on its first two possessions.
On the opening series, quarterback Jordan Cauley completed a 40-yard pass to Mikel Riggs on the game's first play from scrimmage. That eventually set up a one-yard touchdown run by Justin Gomez and a two-point conversion run by Travis Holland.
White's second series followed a similar pattern although in different fashion.
On the first play of that possession, White got a 40-yard run from Louis Ray Nelson. It was also Nelson who ended the possession with a three-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion run that put the lead up to 16-0 with 4:10 left in the opening quarter.
Red was able to get on the board for the first time halfway through the second quarter after a 14-play, 72-yard march when Teras Fountain crashed through from six yards out. Ricky Samuel was stopped on the two-point attempt, which kept White's lead at 16-6 with 6:12 left in the half.
Just like the way it started in the first half, White began the second half with another successful opening possession.
Although White had a 74-yard touchdown run by Tacorey Owens called back on a clipping penalty, White was able to overcome that

when Cauley hooked up with Riggs on a 36-yard scoring strike. Justin Gomez's two-point run made it 24-6 with 3:05 left in the third quarter.
Cauley threw his second touchdown pass of the game early in the fourth quarter, this one a 40-yard strike to Brice Martin. Holland's two-point run made it 32-6 with 10:33 left.
Red picked up its final score of the game with six minutes left when Nykeem Barton rushed across the goal line from three yards out to make it 32-12. The two-point attempt failed.
