Congratulations on a job well done
The 1165th MP Company of Alabama's National Guard, which includes the Brewton unit, recently was notified that it will receive the presidential commendation. It is the first time a Guard unit from Alabama has received this honor.
Though Iraq is constantly in the news and we are constantly reminded of our country's reliance on National Guard and reserve units to fight this war, most of us forget the daily sacrifices that were made by these men and women and their families as they represented us "over there." It is fitting that they receive commendation for having twice answered the call to battle.
We were proud of this unit for its service in Iraq and were delighted to see them come home safely last summer. We're even more proud that others have recognized their service and sacrifices to their country. We hope you'll join us at the Armory this Tuesday or the ceremony this summer to let them know we are supportive and appreciative.
