Brooks White was appointed county tax collector on March 1 by Gov. James E. Folsom, to succeed John R. Roby who resigned because of ill health.
Bids on construction of a new building at County High School, Atmore will be opened tomorrow afternoon.
Mrs. Sally B. Lovelace, 90, a prominent resident of Brewton for 65 years, died at her home after an extended illness. She was the widow of the late W. Y. Lovelace.
The Escambia County Welfare Department reports it gave financial aid during January to 1,022 persons at a total expenditure of $24,947.
