Truck hits 14-year-old

A teenage boy was struck by a vehicle on East Street Monday night as companions played basketball.
According to police reports, a call came into the police station at 4:50 p.m. on Monday. When police responded to the call, they found Cortez Banks, 14, who lives at 407 East Street, had been injured. Witnesses said that the boys were playing basketball near the street when a white pickup pulling a trailer came through, struck the boy and kept on going.
Banks was treated and released with non-threatening injuries. The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the police department.
