A local 16-year-old girl got the surprise of her life this week when she received a call from WABB Radio in Mobile.
Sarah Kent, who is a student at W.S. Neal High School, wona trip to Orlando, Fla., to attend a Ryan Cabrera concert where she will be able to meet the teen idol, and most importantly to her, be able to give him a kiss.
The trip is the result of a contest that WABB ran during the month of March. When listeners heard the sound of a kiss, they were supposed to call in to the station. The ninth caller was then qualified to be entered for the grand prize which is the trip and the chance to meet Cabrera.
Kent was surprised enough to be the ninth caller when she heard the kiss on the radio, but she was indeed shocked to get a telephone call from WABB on Thursday with the news that her name had been selected.
According to Mikey McCallagher, the promotion director at WABB, there was a large number of contestants in the running to win the final prize.
"We had at least one winner every hour," he said. "I don't know how many there were at the end of the contest, but there were a lot. We still have to finalize the details but she should have a good time. We will be in touch with her in the next few days to let her know everything. As for me, I want to wish her good luck and be sure to wear a lipstick that won't wear off."
Kent said that she is very excited about winning the contest and will make the trip with her older sister on April 23.
"I never thought I would win or that something this big would happen to me."
