Mrs. Evelyn Knight, 72, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005. She was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Brewton. She was a member of Old Springhill Primitive Baptist Church and had been employed with West Gate Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brandon Knight and Allen Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Cleo Knight; children, Eddie Knight, Carrie Long, Brenda (Robert) Laster, Harvest Knight, Cleo (Phyllis)Knight Jr., Charlie (Linda) Knight, Regina Knight, Harland Mitchell, Robert Longmire, Patricia Longmire, Krishandra Lyons, Rick Jackson, Phillip (Tomeka) Jackson and Diane Middleton; one daughter-in-law, Alice Knight; two brothers and one sister, Thurman Malone, Luverne Bullard and Mary Rogers; 16 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at Second St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Dailey and Elder Norman Miller officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
