Ila Batson McGowin

Mrs. Ila Batson McGowin, 100, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at a local hospital. She was a native of Covington County and had lived in the Brewton area most of her life. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by two sons, Willie Joe "Buck" McGowin and Samuel L. McGowin.
She is survived by a son, James Cotten of Mobile; two daughters, Elouise Petterson and Ruth Glidwell, both of Mobile; two sisters, Nobie Ward of Crestview, Fla., and Irene McDonald of Brewton, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Gravesides services will be held today, Wednesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at McGowin Cemetery with the Rev. Ervin Gentry officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing.
