The cities of Brewton and East Brewton will celebrate Earth Day next Saturday with a community clean-up day.
Earth Day activities are designed to encourage people to keep their communities clean, and to be earth-friendly in product choices and by recycling.
Whether it means picking up a piece of trash on the side of the road and recycling it, or helping residents in your neighborhood haul heavy appliances to the landfill, everyone can do a little bit to help.
Several activities are planned to make clean-up convenient.
o The Jay Road Landfill will be open between 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. free of charge for residents needing to get rid of unwanted trash and old appliances. However, the landfill will not accept household garbage or food, chemicals or televisions and computers.
East Brewton will have its trash truck available and its residents are asked to call 867-7998 for pickup.
