Traffic was backed up on St. Nicholas Ave. Tuesday morning when a log truck overturned, sending logs cascading all over the side of the street.
According to Brewton Police Chief David Lovelace, the truck was heading north on Hwy. 41 when the accident happened.
"From what we have determined, the load shifted, causing the truck to turn over," Lovelace said. "Speed could have been involved and he was carrying a large load."
Bernard Brown, 48, from Hattisburg, Miss., was driving for Southern Forest Management, Lisman, Ala. He was coming out of Munson, Fla., when the accident occurred.
The Brewton Fire Department and Police Department responded to the scene. Brown was transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital where, according to Lovelace, he was treated for a fractured shoulder. Investigating the accident were Lt. James Hicks, Lt. Randy Nicholson, Sgt. Gene Powell and Officer Jason Yoder.
