R.J. Murphy reported to chairman C.G. Myson and other board members that he had closed a loan for $1.2 million with the First National Bank of Birmingham for construction at D.W. McMillan Hospital. Hospital construction is 27 percent complete.
Officials have requested that Escambia County be declared a disaster area following last week's rain that resulted in about $70,000 damage to roads and bridges.
Plans have been finalized for the Clean Up Day to be sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce…Approximately 150 youths have signed forms indicating they will help with the project.
The Brewton Lions Club recently placed second in achievement, growth, community involvement and support of Alabama Eyesight program among area Lions Clubs.
Brewton City councilmen Tuesday voted not to charge qualifying fees to candidates seeking election in this summer's election.
