The Escambia County Commission this week pledged $75,000 to the Tri County Industrial Development Authority, beginning in the 2005-06 fiscal year.
Commission Chairman Larry White said it was appropriate that the commission "steop out and be a leader" in support of the organization.
The Authority owns 50 acres at the intersection of Hwy. 41 and Interstate 65, in the edge of Conecuh County. When it was initially formed, there was much discussion about creating a new industrial park there. However, when leaders in the effort began conducting interviews throughout the region, they learned there was much more support for a marketing effort for existing parks in the Escambia-Monroe-Conecuh county area.
