Store robbed at gunpoint

Spudds Service Station on Hwy. 31 South was robbed last Wednesday night.
According to the Brewton Police Department, a call was received at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Wed, April 27. Police responded within two to three minutes to find that the store had been robbed.
The clerk reported that a black man wearing black clothing and carrying a gun had entered the store, presented the gun and demanded money, police said. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man left on foot and disappeared across the highway.
Officer Chris Sheffield and Sgt. Russell Martin responded to the scene and are investigating the incident.
In another matter, the police also responded to a call at approximately 4:23 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, to a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 31 South. According to police officers, Erica Holder, 19, of Brewton, was driving north when she lost control of her vehicle on the rain slick highway, causing her to careen into the ditch. Holder was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee which was totaled. Both Holder and a passenger were thrown from the vehicle. They were transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital where they were treated. Officers John Peavy, Geoffrey McGraw and Joseph Skipper responded to the accident.
