East Brewton City Council members and Mayor Terry Clark unanimously voted to appoint Ned Sibert as the new face for Council Seat No. 1
Sibert will replace Huey Johnson who passed away in April. Sibert received his first nomination from Councilman Kenny Hultz and Councilman Byron Palmer seconded the nomination.
Sibert was actually the third person on the list of six to be nominated for Place 1. Councilman Wayne Howard nominated Bob Arrant but he his motion did not receive a second. Councilman Henry Hooks followed Howard with a nomination for Gary McGraw. However, his nomination failed since it was not seconded either.
Bettie Jordan, Dewayne King and Bobby Brooks were the remaining residents who had signed a list to become the next Place 1 Councilman.
Sibert and his wife, Sarah, have three grown children, Ned III, Christy and Kimberly. Sibert, who is originally from Bay Minette, has lived in East Brewton for nearly 30 years. He is the pharmacy manager at Fred's Discount Pharmacy.
