Council okays municipal court

Brewton City Council members unanimously voted to reinstate the Municipal Court during its rescheduled meeting on Tuesday.
It has been two years since the Municipal Court was abolished, in part, because the Court Department felt the city would save nearly $50,000 of the general fund. However, as the years progressed, county clerks began to feel pressured and warrants were piling up.
In a statement made earlier in May by City Clerk John Angel, he said that "getting the court back would allow us to serve our own warrants
