B. and M. Construction of Meridian, Miss., was awarded the contract for a four-room addition to the Brewton Elementary School this week. The company presented the low bid of $43,000.
J.Z. Walding will take office as county school commissioner in July. Currently the principal at Huxford Junior High School, Walding will step into the newly-created $7,500 a year job, replacing the recently-abolished office of county school superintendent. He will replace O.C. Weaver, current superintendent, who has held the job of county school head for more than 25 years.
The addition of a road from Dixie to the Florida Line has been made to the county road system by the Board of Revenue.
Mrs. Ella Mae Peavy's kindergarten graduation services will be held Monday, June 6, at 7:30 in the Brewton Elementary School auditorium. A scene in downtown Brewton in the year of 1975 will be one of the features presented by the class.
Albert Barnard Russell of Brewton was awarded the doctor of medicine degree by Tulane University. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Russell, 706 Lovelace St., Brewton.
