Mrs. Earnestine Pierce Nelson, 78, of Cox Road, died Friday, June 10, 2005, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. She was a native and former resident of Conecuh County before moving to Escambia County, Ala. in 1937. She was a member of Travis Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mal Nelson; a son, Bobby Joe Nelson; two grandsons, Donnie Nelson and Bo Vonaxelson and a granddaughter, Gloria Marie Nelson.
She is survived by six sons, John Mallory Nelson of Munson, Fla., James Danny Nelson, Glen Nelson, Gary Nelson, all of Brewton, Robbie Nelson of Glenville, Ga. and Leonard Nelson of East Brewton; four daughters, Jo Ann Dubose of Damascus, Mary E. Phillips of Jay, Fla., Donna Brantley of Brewton and Frances Phillips of Berrydale, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Earnie Calhoun and Speaker Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Travis Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
