Mrs. Bertie B. Alford Birdsell, 85, of Escambia Avenue, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, in a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Covington County and a long time resident of Escambia County. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church and retired owner of Narvells Grocery with more than 30 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Claude (Etta Jean) Alford of East Brewton; a daughter, Carolyn (Jack) Feagin of Brooklyn; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas White and the Rev. Dan Shaddock officiating. Burial followed at Damascus Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
