Betty Jean Hutchcraft

Mrs. Betty Jean Hutchcraft, 63, died Monday, June 27, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a native of Chicago, Ill., and had been a resident of Brewton since 1968. She worked as a clerk at B.C. Moore's Department Store for a number of years. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, where she was a member and officer of the Alter Society, and taught Catechism. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Gacek; a son, Eric Hutchcraft; a sister, Darlene Stepanek and a grandson, Lane Hutchcraft.
She is survived by her husband, Herman E. "Gene" Hutchcraft of Brewton; two sons, Herman Hutchcraft II of Huntsville and Joey (Linda) Hutchcraft of Brewton; two daughters, Tina Mashburn and Linda Hutchcraft, both of Brewton; one brother, Joe Gacek of Brewton; three sisters, Cathy Pelock of Eastman, Wis., Shirley Hanson of DeSota, Wis., and Mary Ann Tontlowicz of Berwyn Ill., and six grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial was held Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church with the Rev. Adrian Cook officiating. Burial followed at Beulah Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Maurice Catholic Church.
