An early-morning house fire was detected by a motorist as he traveled past an East Brewton home on Sunday.
Around 4 a.m., Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wilson, of 900 Shoffner Street, woke up to the repetitious sound of a car honking, and later, knocks on the door from an early-morning passerby, who had noticed the smoke coming from the home.
After alerting the Wilsons, the unknown motorist traveled to the Minute Stop in East Brewton and reported the fire. The fire department received the call at 4:46 a.m.
Richard Hawthorn, a fireman with the East Brewton Fire Department, said that the motorist did not leave his name.
The fire department was able to contain the fire to the attic. Hawthorne said that the fire looked like it was an electrical fire that started in the attic.
