July Fourth celebrations are planned at Fort Crawford Park in East Brewton and O'Bannon Park in Brewton. Festivities at both parks begin early in the morning and include live music and fireworks displays.
Doctor Phillipi, who opened his medical practice in Brewton after the end of World War I prepares to retire. "It's satisfying to see that Brewton's kind of developed into a medical center," Phillipi said.

U.S. Senator Donald Stewart will be in Brewton July 9, where he will attend a noon dutch treat luncheon at the Holiday Inn. The senator is touring Alabama discussing current issues and answering questions concerning legislation.
