Brewton Mayor Ray Sherer was reelected by a 2-1 margin. In East Brewton, Lovelace Parker defeated the two-term incumbent Malcolm Edwards by 266 votes. Also in East Brewton, council race incumbent Terry Clark will face a runoff against Norman Rabren on July 29.
Mary Ethel Ward was honored at a retirement tea last month. The gathering was arranged by her co-workers, and Ward was later presented with a gold Seiko watch. Ward retired from the Alabama State Employment Service, where she has worked since 1941.
Cindy Moore has been hired as Director of Institutional Research at Jefferson Davis State Junior College, effective August 1st.
