102 pints of blood were donated at the annual visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile-23 pints short of the 125-pint goal.
Preliminary tests are being made in Alco to add a new well and tank to the city's water system. The tests are checking the electric motor and gas engine, which will drive the pumps.
The classifieds section lists "Pheasants for sale-fresh dressed or frozen and live. Young, tender, meaty. Recipes available."
W.S. Neal Vocational Agriculture offers a shop training course for adults. The course will meet 12 times, and each class will last an hour and a half. The class is free, except for materials that may be needed for the projects.
William C. Kirkland, who enrolled in the Navy in 1943, was recently promoted to chief petty officer. Kirkland is serving on The Diodon in San Diego, Calif.
The first day of school will be Wednesday, September 7, according to a newly adopted calendar by the Board of Education.
