Marine Corporal Christopher David Winchester, 23, of Old Hwy. 31, Flomaton, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, while conducting combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Trebil, Iraq, near the Jordan border. He was a native of Milton, Fla., and a former resident of East Brewton, before moving to Flomaton eight years ago. He was a U.S. Marine Corporal and a member of the Divine Temple Church. He was a 2000 graduate of Flomaton High School. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Ella Ree Smith.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gail and Greg Williams of Flomaton; his father, William A. Winchester of Brewton; his grandparents, Leo and Janell Winchester of Brewton, one brother, Greg (Maria) Winchester of Brewton; one sister, Allison (Paul) Murphy of Brewton; four nieces; one nephew and a number of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Flomaton High School Auditorium.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held Thursday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton High School Auditorium with the Rev. Doug Greer and the Rev. Brandon Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery on Appleton Road with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
