Half pound pot seized, local man arrested

Four individuals including a Brewton man were arrested, and more than a half-pound of marijuana was seized from an undercover drug operation conducted recently by Hartselle's Police Department.
The undercover purchases took place Aug. 10 in the Wal-Mart parking lot following the sting by HPD's Criminal Investigation Division.
The individuals arrested were John Christopher Bates, 18, of 100 Yearling Place, Toney; Jerry Jermaine Jackson, 32, of 13409 Highway 29, Brewton; Jessica Cunningham, 22, of 124 Coatbridge Lane in Madison; and Jonathan Haynes, 18, of 918 Rolan Gooch Road, Toney.
Jackson was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and his bond was set at $750.
Bates was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and was being held on $750 bond.
Cunningham was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and was being held on $1,000 bond.
Haynes was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree. His bond was set at $1,000.
