The countdown to the last day to send in applications for Brewton police chief is coming to a close. The last day to send in applications is Monday, Aug. 22.
According to Brewton City Clerk John Angel, five applications are secured in a safe inside City Hall. Angel said that the first application arrived in the early morning hours of Aug. 10, the day after council members agreed on the job description.
Angel said that the mayor and the council members have not reviewed the applications, nor have they inquired. So far, four local applicants have sent in their resumes, while one applicant from as far away as Tennessee has applied for the position of police chief.
Angel said that he fully expects to see more applications hit his desk the morning of the deadline and he wouldn't be surprised to see at least five more applications.
City Council members approved the job description for police chief during a regular session on Aug. 9.
The closing date for applications was set for August 22. The city requests that all resumes should be sent to the city of Brewton ATTN: City Clerk, P.O. Box 368, Brewton, Ala. 36426-0368.
