Escambia County voters will make their choices on Democratic or Republican candidates Tuesday, Sept. 2, with primaries scheduled here and throughout the state.
The Brewton city and county boards of education, along with the commission, adopted a joint resolution lats spring urging that schools receive approximately 21 percent of the totaltax and the county 13 percent.
In East Brewton, garbage collection fees in the city, heretofore at a straight monthly rate of $1 per customer, are set under terms of the amended ordinance as follows: Residential, $3; offices, $4; gasoline stations, $7; laundries, $7; barber and beauty shops, $4; and business establishments not covered in other categories, $6.
The former Church of God on Highway 31 north has been changed to the Hillcrest Holiness Church, with the Rev. A.D. Nelson as pastor.
Machine shorthand (stenotype and stenograph) is being offered to the Brewton community through Jefferson Davis Junior College this fall.
