My thanks to this newspaper for an avenue to express our thoughts to so many at once. We have so many people to thank for their great generosity and many acts of kindness to the evacuees who came our way when Hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf coast and changed their lives forever.
On behalf of The American Red Cross and the evacuees, we especially thank the Community of Christ Church congregation for the use of their educational facility and Pastor and Mrs. Wayne Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Andrews and Mr. and Mrs. Etheridge Smith for their untiring fulltime service to take care of the needs of everyone from food to furniture, bedding, housing and beyond.
Our Red Cross volunteers are invaluable. As always we are grateful to our school officials for the use of their facilities and the great people who manned the shelter at Little Escambia Baptist Church.
Red Cross is always in need of volunteers who are willing to get training in specialized areas, especially disaster care. Please call 867-3426 and get signed up today. God bless.
Gary Robinson,
East Escambia American Red Cross Disaster Shelter Chair
