One of the goals of this year's T.R. Miller Lady Tigers volleyball team is to break the school record for wins in a season.
After a little research, it was discovered this year's team has a little extra work to do to achieve that goal.
Up until now it was believed last year's team held the record with eight wins. After I stumbled across an old chart in Coach Sharon Peacock's office last week, it indicated the 2002 team went 9-12 in the program's first year of competition. The chart listed the results game by game and it did add up to nine wins.
When I first arrived here two years ago, I asked Peacock her team's record in 2002 and she indicated that squad had won seven games so that mark was used as the school record until last year's team won eight.
T.R. Miller picked up its eighth win of the season Monday against Jay. It had an opportunity to tie the "new" school standard when it hosted W.S. Neal Tuesday.
Regardless of that outcome, the Lady Tigers will have a chance to break the record Thursday when they host Monroe County and W.S. Neal in a tri-match.

Both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal had "B" football home games wiped out Monday due to soggy field conditions.
The Tigers were slated to host Monroe County, while W.S. Neal was scheduled to play Northview (Fla.).
No makeup dates have been set.
