Electrical power was knocked out all over Brewton and East Brewton on Monday morning and left many residents and businesses without power for a majority of the day.
According to Loretta Thomas, Brewton office manager at Alabama Power, a transmission pole fell in the creek behind D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, which knocked out the power.
Thomas said that everyone was without power for a short time and some would take a little longer.
While some businesses closed due to the loss of power, others broke out the flashlights in order to assist their customers.
As of late Monday afternoon there was still a large section of town, including around 918 customers, without power, mostly those north of T.R. Miller High School, Thomas said.
Power was eventually restored to those remaining customers before dark. Anyone who is still without power should contact Alabama Power at 1-800-888-2726.
