October is Alpha Delta Kappa Month. The local chapter consists of 32 members who are educators from W.S. Neal Schools and Brewton City Schools, as well as retired educators. As part of the celebration this month, a small token of appreciation and a motivational message was give to each person the faculty and staff of all the local public schools. One of the purposes of ADK is to promote excellence and high standards in teaching, administration and any specialized field of education.
Another purpose of ADK is to support altruistic projects. The local projects for this year include collecting items for the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry and donating children's books for the patients of Dr. Marsha Raulerson and the medical center. They also contribute to the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Additionally, the local ADK chapter awards a scholarship annually to a student who is majoring in education. Pictured are Sherry Hutto and Heather Cook.
