Escambia County government started its 1981 fiscal year Oct. 1. without a budget deficit, but county commissioners will meet today, Thursday, to discuss the possible layoff of some road department works.
Had they voted on the issue this week, East Brewton City councilmen would have approved sale of beer in three city businesses by a 4-2 vote, Mayor Lovelace Parker told residents in a packed council chamber Monday.
More than 30 dealers are scheduled to exhibit and sell their wares at the Fort Crawford Trading Post Saturday, Oct. 18, at Fort Crawford Park in East Brewton.
At a special session Tuesday morning presided over by C.G. Mayson, chairman, members of the Escambia County Hospital Board voted unanimously to reject the two bids submitted for the purchase of the $1 million bond issue for present consturction at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.
