The Rev Eli Wilson Adkinson, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 in Navarre. He was a native and lifelong resident of Flomaton, an active member of Flomaton First Baptist Church, a civic leader and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Adkinson.
He is survived by his son, Roger (Susan) Adkinson of Flomaton; three daughters, Emily (Bill) Nipper of Charlotte, N.C., Jean (Larry) Shehan of Navarre, and Diane (Tim) Hawsey of Flomaton; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and his sister, Ethel Horn of Wawbeek.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Tim McKnight and the Rev. Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Brad Adkinson, William Nipper, Edwin Nipper, Britt Nipper, Jeremy Hawsey and Denver Hawsey.
