Pumpkins' intended purpose: filling fall pies
I love pumpkin pie!!! If I can't get a pumpkin pie at this time of year, then I don't want any. Well, maybe a sweet potato pie will do until the real thing comes along!!!
And, now that you've blown the candle out of your pumpkin from the weekend parties, festivals and such, you can finally put that pumpkin to good use. Hopefully, you painted or used some of kind of stencil or stickers to create your Jack-O-Lantern this year. That means you'll be able to use the pumpkin for its intended purpose - cooking!! If you didn't and you've got a sagging pumpkin whose insides resemble the bottom of your favorite cast-iron skillet, then you'll be happy to know that the recipes in this week's column call for canned pumpkin puree.
