Mrs. Ollie Ville Strickling, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005. She was a native of Samson and was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bascom Strickling; her son, Kenneth Strickling; brothers, W.J. “Dick”, Guy and Elias Simmons; and sisters, Dawnie Cook, Ella Peacock, Alice Nolin and Evelyn Chancey.
She is survived by three children, Clara (Don) Houston, Faye (Ben) Hudson and Dykes (Linze) Strickling, all of Jay; a daughter-in-law, Ileta Strickling; ten grandchildren, Keith Strickling, Rodney Strickling, Linda Harris, Joann Cox, Pamela Ivey, Mason Hudson, Michele Campbell, Adam Strickling, Kyle Strickling and Joyce Wainwright; 17 great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddy Barrow and the Rev. Herb Vandyke officiating. Burial followed at Cora Cemetery with Jay Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Mason Hudson, Keith Strickling, Adam Strickling and Kyle Strickling. Honorary pallbearers were Wilber Weeks, Joe Burch, Terrie Simmons, Sam Godwin, Rex Godwin, Jack Ezell, Hover Harris, Norman Black, Kenny Hunt, Daniel White, Kirby Harris, Caleb Harris, Miles Zimmerman, Chris Campbell and Oakland Ard.
