While the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks have only played three games so far, it is enough to see a disturbing trend start to develop.
Slow starts.
While JDCC was able to overcome a sluggish start to beat Pensacola Christian in its season opener, that was not the case over the weekend where it dropped two games at the South Georgia Tech Classic.
The Warhawks fell to the host school, South Georgia Tech, Saturday 67-41.
JDCC hit just one field goal in the first 10 minutes where it fell behind 23-8. The Warhawks were able to pull within 29-22 by halftime, another slow start to the second half enabled South Georgia Tech to pull away. JDCC hit just two field goals the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Tim Rodgers was the lone Warhawk to reach double digits with 12 points.
JDCC closed out the tournament Sunday with an 87-70 loss to Abraham Baldwin.
Once again JDCC dug an early hole, as it fell behind 23-8 over the first 10 minutes. The teams played on virtually even terms the rest of the way.
Micah McKinney and Terren Spann both had 15 points to pace the Warhawks.
The Warhawks play at Gadsden State Friday.
