Time is flying by. Soon all of us will be celebrating the holidays in some way.  If you haven't had the opportunity yet to share your holiday spirit with the Christmas Project I hope you'll add that to your list of things to do soon.
Of all the projects I am involved in I can say without hesitation that the Christmas Project is one of the most special.
This all volunteer effort works to provide special gifts for the elderly in need as well as new clothes and toys for the less fortunate children in Brewton, East Brewton and Flomaton.
There are so many ways to be involved.  The Kiwanis Club and Sportsmen's Club use their funds to take children shopping for their gifts. The Civic League members and all my other friends will shop for the rest of the children.
Some businesses, church groups and even private individuals directly sponsor several children or several elderly.
Local banks will also have angels that you can select and buy toys for.   And of course businesses, churches and individuals have donated the money that makes the Christmas Project possible.
However, we still need additional funding for the Christmas Project; if you can support us with a donation then simply mail your check to 1010 Douglas Ave, Brewton, AL 36427.
If you have new toys you'd like to donate you can take them to the Chamber Office by Friday, Dec. 9.   If you have another idea of a way you can help, please call me at 867-4190.
I never cease to be amazed by the generous, caring and creative people in our community.  May you be blessed by their presence this holiday season as I have.
