Mr. Gary Elliotte Holmes, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, Ala. He was of the Baptist faith, an U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Radiator Repair Industry. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olin Holmes and James Andrew Holmes; and three sisters, Eloise Holmes Kirkland, Evelyn Holmes Bell and Vivian Holmes Sherrer.
He is survived by a sister, Gwen Holmes Clayton of East Brewton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Speaker John Gleaton officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
