Jasmine Sanford and Joy McCorvey combined for 56 points for the game, bit it was the 17 points they combined for in overtime that propelled the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers to a 71-56 victory over the Oxford Lady Yellow Jackets Friday at the Oxford Tournament.
T.R. Miller (11-1 and winners of 10 straight) led most of regulation, but only by a small margin. The Lady Tigers led 18-12 after one period, 31-26 at halftime and 45-38 through three quarters.
Oxford was able to rally in the fourth quarter, as a pair of buckets by Andrea Hughins, a three-pointer by Josephine Scott and a hoop by Haley Gregg pulled the Lady Yellow Jackets even at 53-53 headed into the extra session.
Once the game went into overtime it was all T.R. Miller or more appropriately Sanford and McCorvey.

Sanford scored nine of her 31 points in the overtime session with three big buckets and a three-for-three performance at the free throw line. McCorvey scored eight of her 25 points in overtime with three more buckets and a pair of charity stripe tosses.
The 31 points by Sanford marked the second straight game she reached that plateau. She also had 31 in the opening round against Northgate (Ga.) Both Sanford and McCorvey, who scored 38 points in two games at the tournament, were named to the all-tournament team.
The Lady Tigers began play at the Spring Hill College Tournament in Mobile Tuesday against UMS-Wright. T.R. Miller will continue play in that event through Friday.
