Mr. Kyler Benjamin Jr., 64, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005. He was a native of Escambia County and a former resident of Long Island, N.Y., Riverside, Calif., and Fort Collins, Colo., before moving back to Brewton in 1983. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. He was instrumental in the construction of Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from Southern Normal High School and had been employed at Shaw Industries in Andalusia.
He is survived by his parents, Lena and Kyler Benjamin Sr.; a daughter, Michelle Benjamin (Edward Sr.) Reese of Lake Forrest, Calif. ; two grandchildren, Taylor Reese and Edward Reese Jr., both of Lake Forrest; four sisters, Retha Frisby and Dorothy Williams, both of Long Island, Shirley (Jeffrey) Blount and Janice Benjamin, both of Brewton; five brothers, James (Queen) Benjamin of Long Island, Charles (Nellie) Benjamin of Albion, Mich., Richard L. (Linda) Benjamin Sr. of Mobile and Willie James (Cathy) Benjamin and Danny (Janet) Benjamin, both of Brewton; a devoted brother-in-law, Jeffrey Blount and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Dailey officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
