The Escambia County Health Care Authority broke ground Tuesday on its new Flomaton Medical Center, which will be managed by D.W. McMillan Hospital.
Steve Adyelott, former Flomaton resident and owner of S.O.A. Construction, which will build the facility, said he expects construction to take six to eight months, dependent upon weather conditions.
The facility, located on Hyw. 113 and designed by Scott Fry of Fry Design in Macon, Ga., will include offices for three physicians and an adjoining pharmacy. The healthcare authority partnered with longtime Flomaton physician Dr. John Vanlandingham , who will move his practice to the new facility. He will be joined by Brewton Yoder, RN, CNP. Once the facility is open, D.W. McMillan will begin recruiting a second primary care physician.
S.O.A. Construction is based out of Perry, Ga., but has an Alabama Regional office located at 432 Upper Creek Road in Flomaton.
Curt Eckman will be in charge of field operations at the facility and Jerry Johnson of Flomaton will be the on-site supervisor.
