I remember going to “all night sings” either at the ball field, or other large gathering places as I grew up. Oh! I tried to stay awake so I wouldn't miss anything. As I got older, I still enjoyed going, but for different reasons.
This Thursday evening, Jan. 12, promises to be a great evening for singing and fun. And we don't even have to bring our own lawn chairs or blankets! Furthermore, the proceeds will benefit the Hurricane Victims of the 2005 season assisted by the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, as per the committees' direction. When the committee began the planning for this event they contacted the local Red Cross office to be in compliance.
This is a much-anticipated event. I am sure we remember what it was like for those affected in our area during Hurricane Ivan. Both the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross have been at the forefront of assistance in meeting needs. Only by our assistance through donations and our time, will those organizations be able to continue to reach out.
Please do join us for this special music event featuring the Blackwood Brothers and the Chuck Wagon Gang. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. at Jefferson Davis Community College. Tickets are available locally and in surrounding communities. For more information please contact Carolyn Lambeth at 296-5470.
