The 2006 schedule is now complete for the W.S. Neal Blue Eagles football team.
W.S. Neal filled its last vacant non-region date, the week 10 spot, with a home game against the Calhoun Tigers. Calhoun posted a 2-8 overall record, 0-7 in Class 3A Region 2 last season.
Earlier the Blue Eagles filled their other two non-region dates with a home game against the Daleville Warhawks in week one and a road game against the Opp Bobcats in week five. Daleville went 4-6 overall, 2-5 in Class 4A Region 2, while Opp finished 1-9 overall, 1-6 in Class 4A Region 2.
W.S. Neal's three non-region foes went a combined 7-23 last season, a far cry from the three non-region foes the Blue Eagles played last year. Eufaula, Trinity Presbyterian and Southern Choctaw went a combined 32-6 counting playoff action and 27-3 in regular season.
While the series with Calhoun is a two-year deal, both games will be played at W.S. Neal. The Tigers will receive monetary compensation to play at W.S. Neal in 2007. The extra home game will give the Blue Eagles six home games in 2007. The Blue Eagles will play five home games and five road games this upcoming season.
W.S. Neal will have an exhibition road game at Andalusia prior to the start of the 2006 season. The Blue Eagles and Bulldogs had played each other in exhibition games prior to last season when W.S. Neal played Hillcrest-Evergreen. Hillcrest-Evergreen is now a regular season opponent for the Blue Eagles.
