Mrs. Johnnie Bell Cook, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at a local nursing facility. She was a native and lifelong resident of the Brewton area. She retired as a seamstress from Judy Bond and was a member of Hoomesville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Cook; and her parents, John Allan and Minnie Lee Lanier.
She is survived by a son, Charles Cook of Damascus; a daughter, Emma Lee Coleman of Keller, Texas; two sisters, Marie Hooks of Damascus, and Evelyn Cotton of Atmore; six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with Minister Clifford Dixon officiating. Burial followed at Hoomesville Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Eubie White, Carlton King, Billy Earl Cook, Dorrell Thomasson, Gene Cotton and Sammy Phillips.
