Mr. Richard “Dick” Edward Roche, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2005. He was a native of Niles, Ohio, a former resident of Biloxi, Miss. and a recent resident of Chesterfield, Mo.
He was a Golden Glove boxing champion and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from the military with 24 years of service and retired after 40 years of Civil Service work.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally Mae Odom Roche; his children, Esther Cheryl Verel of Oklahoma, Richard C. Roche, Carole A. (Paul) Penning, and Michael W. Roche, all of Texas, Bennison (Donna) Roche, Kathleen L. (Bill) Loesch, Thomas E. (Lisa) Roche, and Teresa L. Nadershahi, all of Missouri, John P. (Jill) Roche of Georgia and Patrick A. Roche of Mississippi; a brother, Joseph Jennings of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
A funeral mass was held at Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield, Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. with Schrader Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at New Bethlelem Baptist Church at Barnett Cross Roads.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. at the church with the Rev. Fred Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
