The Coalition for Healthier Escambia County held the first meeting for 2006 in January and set the agenda for this year.
The Coalition is an countywide organization of concerned individuals who meet monthly to address needs in the county that, when resolved, will make life better for the citizens. Among the issues which have been addressed by this group are the following needs: early intervention activities in children from birth to three years to promote brain development, a system of care for dentally underserved children in the county, a prescription drug program for people who have no drug coverage, enrollment of county children in insurance programs through a partnership with RSVP, a transport system for children and women in need of health care services and parenting programs to assist young mothers.
These, and many other areas of need, have been successfully addressed over the past 10 years by the members of the Coalition.
The focus for 2006 again, includes a most healthy agenda and targets some issues that have been carried over from 2005.
